Teresa Buchinski

Teresa graduated from UBC School of Rehabilitation in 1978. The owner of Keary Physiotherapy Clinic from 1984 to 2005 she continues to work part-time.

Her post-graduate training includes manual therapy, cranial-sacral, myofascial release and lymphatic drainage therapy. These skills have allowed her to effectively treat people with both acute and chronic pain beyond the conventional forms of therapy. She has had over 28 years experience in treating people of all ailments, including headaches, back and neck pain, TMJ pain,soft tissue injuries and arthritis. She also has over 15 years of expertise in treatment of breast cancer clients helping them achieve their maximum potential following surgery. Teresa believes that it is a therapist’s job to work as a team with her clients and have them involved in the treatment process. With the right combination of education, exercise and hands on treatment great treatment results can happen.

She is constantly rewarded by seeing positive health changes for her clients and realizes she is fortunate to have an occupation that brings such great personal satisfaction.

 

May Ly

May graduated from McGill University in 1999 and has worked in the private sector since, both in private clinics and rehabilitation centres.  She gained valuable experience working for five years in active rehabilitation and return to work planning for patients injured from work or motor vehicle accident injuries.  She has been working at Keary Physiotherapy since 2005 and has advanced training in a variety of treatment techniques.  She has her level D training in the McKenzie Protocol for treating spinal conditions as well as post graduate courses on treating musculoskelatal imbalances through the use of Muscle Energy Techniques and core stability.

She has received training in manual lymph drainage for treatment of post breast cancer lymphedema.  She also provides vestibular rehabilitation for those suffering from dizziness.

May's treatment approach is holistic, using education, exercise and manual techniques to help patients maximize their function.   She believes in the importance of maintaining regular communication with other health practitioners  and insurers involved with her patients' care, to ensure continuity.

As co-owner of Keary Physio, May aspires to offer the same high quality care that has given Keary its excellent reputation in the community for the last two decades.   

 

 Marta Kemecsey

Marta finished her degree in Kinesiology in 1997 and worked two years as a Kinesiologist in a physiotherapy clinic before realizing her dream of going on with her studies and becoming a physiotherapist.  She graduated from McMaster University in 2001 and worked in several private clinics as well as Royal Columbian Hospital before joining the team at Keary Physiotherapy in 2003.

She has extensive experience in active rehabilitation programs such as the WCB Occupational Rehabilitation I & II, Acitvity Related Soft Tissue Disorder and Pain Management Programs having worked with other professionals in these programs as a Kinesiologist and a physiotherapist.  She has taken post graduate training in manual therapy, peri natal care and has her certification in acupuncture.

Co-owner of Keary Physiotherapy since 2005, Marta enjoys working with a variety of different clients and strives to give them the most current information and suitable treatment to optimize their physicial function.

 

Katherine Callaghan

Katherine graduated from Brunel University in London in 2006 with a BSc Honours in Physiotherapy and also has a BSc Honours in Sport Sciences. For the past 2 years Katherine has been working in the NHS at one of England top teaching hospitals based in London. She has also worked for Barnes Rugby Club for the past 4 seasons.

Katherine has a strong interest in treating orthopaedic and sports injuries.  She also has specialised experience in treating women’s health patients with incontinence, antenatal and postnatal problems.

Katherine uses a combination of treatment techniques including education, exercise prescription, manual techniques and ergonomic advice to maximise rehabilitation potential. She has undertaken postgraduate training in modified Pilates for physiotherapists, soft tissue management  following surgery, myofascial release and rehabilitation techniques for pelvic floor disorders.
